Tranquility
Tranquility speaks to me of peace, deep peace and calm.
Where does this deep peace and calm come from? It comes from a deep connection I have with God. Thus, tranquility helps me to connect with God at a deep level. Whether I am in the midst of a storm, or enjoying life to the full, I am always surrounded by the deep love and peace God has for me.
It is not always easy to get into that tranquil space, because doubts and fears are part of human nature and can totally overwhelm me if I allow it to happen. However, my favourite quote from Julian of Norwich says it all for me: "All will be well. All matter of things will be well". I have made that my daily mantra, to just sit in the Lord’s presence and allow God to whisper to me that "all will be well, all matter of things will be well".
Tranquility helps me to stay calm and focused. I am reminded of God's grace and peace when He says, "Peace I give to you..." it reassures me of His abiding presence and that this world's peace can never replace God's peace in my soul.
The world is full of chaos, full of mess, full of darkness. There is no peace of God in it simply because it has created its own gods. The gods of money, power, sex, immorality, and war. Human beings have transcended into a world of selfishness and have become egocentric. Our egos have become so inflated that it has no room for God. Yet, God is a patient God who gently calls us by name, who gives us second chances, who beckons us to come closer to Him. If we would just surrender our egos to Him, He can transform us into beautiful images of Himself and give us the peace that the world cannot give.
So how can we get this inner peace, sothat tranquility floods our soul? Just breathe in the powerful Name of Jesus and His peace, and breathe out all of the negativity that is not from Him. Do that a few times in your quiet time with the Lord. Become aware of your breathing as you do so and realise that your life's breath is actually God's breath in you. Let God fill you with His Peace, love and joy.
Tranquility also means to get in touch with Mother Nature. Be alive with every sunrise and sunset. A sunrise gives me Hope for the new day which is a gift from God. A sunset is appreciating what took place during the day and giving thanks to God for all that have been.
A flowing stream reminds me of God's Living Waters. That in itself is tranquility and peace. Jesus Himself said to the woman at the well in John's Gospel (Jn 4:13-14), "Whoever drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring which will provide him with life-giving water and give him eternal life" (Good News Bible).
So let us urge the Lord to give us this life-giving water, sothat we will never be thirsty again. Let us drink deeply from the Wells of salvation. The Lord Himself is this life-giving water that nourishes us and gives us life, peace, joy and love. What can be no better than to bathe in God's love for you personally?
Drink deeply from the well of the Lord. Get filled with His Peace, calm and tranquility. Let Him enter your veins, let Him enter your soul. Let Him abide in your heart.
Breathe in... Breathe out... Breathe in... Breathe out...
"Deep peace I give you. Stay connected to Me".
The Lord’s Peace and Tranquility are gifts freely given.
Bathe in that Tranquility to your heart's content.
